What are we about?
Our mission is to create a workplace of happy senior lawyers where outstanding work and exceptional service coexist with flexibility and autonomy.
At The Workplace we want to change the way people think about their lawyer, by showing our clients that strategic advice and personal service can be found without the ego and high cost. Our client feedback tells us we are valued as approachable, honest and commercial and that’s how we aim to stay.
Our passion for what we do has led to impressive organic growth since we first kicked off The Workplace in mid-2014 and we are now looking for someone special to join with us in achieving our mission.
What’s in it for you?
We support genuine flexibility and have deliberately structured our practice to enable you to be who you are. We believe that flexibility enhances productivity and are excited by our team’s other pursuits, hobbies and “hats”.
You’ll get the chance to work with an experienced, collaborative team and service our amazing range of clients.
Most of all, you will get to reap the direct impact of your talents and feel a greater level of control over where your future is taking you.
Who are we looking for?
This role can be whatever you make it; it would suit a senior practitioner who loves reading case law and has a bent for technical legal details or a savvy lawyer who is a skilled business developer and who comes with their own client base. It would be a bonus if you’re at the forefront of new technologies and are passionate about pursuing new opportunities in legal service models and process improvements for clients.
As a small team, we are very hands on and take pride in getting things done. So we need someone friendly, sharp, and confident. You will be passionate about becoming a trusted advisor to our client group and will take client service seriously.
If you have all or most of the following skills and experience you could be the one:
You have 10+ years PAE specialising in employment law
You are motivated by flexibility, a high level of satisfaction within your professional life and entrepreneurialism - rather than having your own office, secretary and free dinners
You have experience and confidence in a client facing practice and are excited by business development ideas and activities
You can articulate complex legal concepts and problems into digestible solutions for clients big and small
You understand business realities and how to deal with them in an empathetic and agile way
You are self-motivated; when you see something could be done better, you will get your hands dirty and champion improvement
You embrace a dynamic and fast-paced environment
